1teaspoonground cinnamon
1/4teaspoonground nutmeg
1tablespoonall-purpose flour (for thickening)
1cupall-purpose flour (for the topping)
1/2cupgranulated sugar (for the topping)
1teaspoonbaking powder
1/2teaspoonsalt
1/2cupunsalted butter, melted
1/2cupmilk
1teaspoonvanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Toss until the apples are well coated, then transfer them to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Pour in the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract into the flour mixture. Stir until just combined; the batter will be slightly lumpy.
Pour the batter evenly over the apples in the baking dish. Do not stir.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the topping comes out clean.
Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving to allow the juices to thicken.
Notes
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and a sprinkle of cinnamon for an added touch!
