Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Toss until well coated. Pour the apple mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, melted butter, and milk until just combined. The batter will be slightly lumpy.
Pour the batter evenly over the apples; do not stir.
In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and nutmeg together. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the batter.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out clean.
Let it cool slightly before serving warm.
