0.5teaspooncrushed red pepper flakes (optional for spice)
2tablespoonsvegetable oil (for cooking)
1servingcooked jasmine rice or noodles, for serving
Instructions
In a medium bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, brown sugar, and crushed red pepper flakes. Mix well to ensure the beef is coated. Let this marinate for at least 15-20 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.
Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches). Sear the beef for 2-3 minutes, without stirring, until it starts to brown. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until just cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until they turn bright green and are tender-crisp.
Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the broccoli. Pour in any leftover marinade and stir everything together, cooking for another 1-2 minutes until everything is heated through and well combined. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
Serve hot over cooked jasmine rice or noodles. Enjoy your homemade beef and broccoli that’s even better than takeout!
