1tablespoonground cinnamon
0.25teaspoonnutmeg
0.25teaspoonsalt
0.25cupchopped walnuts (optional)
1servingMaple syrup for drizzling
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes, diced apples, and chopped walnuts (if using). Toss gently to distribute the apples evenly throughout the bread.
In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well mixed.
Pour the egg mixture over the bread and apple mixture, ensuring all the bread is soaked. Press down lightly to help the bread absorb the liquid.
Cover the dish with foil and let it sit for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate overnight for maximum flavor absorption.
Bake the covered dish in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and crispy.
Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Drizzle with maple syrup before serving.
Notes
